Hakkinen has no fear of failure

(28-Oct-98) - Mika Hakkinen says he does not fear losing the World
Championship at the final hurdle to Michael Schumacher.

"Fear is a negative emotion and I fear nothing about it." Said
the 30-year-old Finn. "If I had that sort of attitude, I would be
half-beaten already."

Hakkinen said he is planning to approach the Japanese Grand Prix this
weekend as he would any other race.

"Why should we change a winning formula?" he said. "I will
be doing my best to win, just like the other 15 races we have had this
season. If I do that job well, then the success will follow."

Hakkinen's team-mate David Coulthard has been primed to perform the same
role as Eddie Irvine.

"I want to help McLaren win both championships," he said. "I
reckon I have more pressure than Eddie. If he gets near to Michael everyone
says what a good job he did. If I am not close to Mika, everyone says:
'Look at the gap.'"
