Hi All!
My friend and I want to have an internet leased line in our flat so we build
a 386/40 as server and connect it with NE1000 compatible cards to our
computers.
I installed the cards, cables, T-connectors and terminators and now I'm a
little stuck with how to go on. Linux doesn't install on the server probably
because it doesn't have a proper hard disk yet. I tried to install the NE1000
driver with the NIF file with MPTS, but the driver crashes at boot.
So I'd like to test drive the LAN under DOS but what do I need? With an
Altavista search on 'ne1000 ethernet driver' or so I found ODIPKT.ZIP but it
has no installation instructions and running ODIPKT.COM says:
ODIPKT 1.1

Can you please give me some basic instructions? Is there maybe a FAQ for
beginners (on the internet as I'd like to avoid a far call).
Ciao, Bernhard!
