My understanding is that George Anderson charges for his readings. So
he should. I understand that he does a good job.

Wow ! You would pay him ! He will be so happy to hear that, I am sure.
So very generous of you to consider paying someone for time spent
helping you. :-)

Is it any of your business "Ms opinionated" ?

First of all it is usually considered bad manners to refer to email
discussions in a newsgroup. However as you are obviously more
interested in expressing your opinions than considering good
manners I am not surprised.
I do not intend to quote anything that you have said in a private
email however as other readers might be interested I detail part of
what *I* said ;
Why would an honest person expect someone else to work for nothing ?
"The labourer is worth the cost of his labour."
I have worked for nothing, by donation, and by a fee. The first option
resulted in many freeloaders. The second option fewer. The third
resulted in the best results. Hence the message.
I do NOT consider encouraging freeloaders, to be "spiritual" activity.
I only have so much time in the day. If I spend it with a freeloader
then I may not have the time left to help the genuine people wanting
help.
Now, does that say I "do not have time for those who cannot pay" ?
In the sense that I cannot afford to work for no income "yes" that is
quite correct. Why should people expect help without contributing
anything ? When I go to my doctor, accountant, lawyer they don't do
things for no charge.
From the point of view of helping people who may be genuine that is a
different situation. In the very rare situation that someone genuinely
cannot afford to pay something then I do give them help. I find
however that many *supposedly* geniune people, who expect free
help, can still afford to buy cigarettes, beer, new clothes, holidays
etc.
>Some people cannot afford your lifestyle.
You have no idea what my lifestyle is so your comment is a rather
meaningless one.
>It was not up to you to condemn.
Condemning is making statements like (KhatBallou) wrote in this
newsgroup ;
>freeloaders? that was not a very spiritual thing to say John. "
I however was simply expressing a general opinion.
>Especially since you preach all goodness and light. It
>may have been best to skip over her request and allow someone else to
>help her out if they chose to.
My comments don't stop anyone replying to a post if they want to. If I
can get a few people doing counselling to think about what they are
doing then my post will possibly achieve something. I often come
across therapists who get "burnt out" due to trying to help anyone who
comes within a hundred yards of them.
IF these therapists stopped to think that they cannot single handedly
"save" the world, and they should perhaps concentrate on helping
genuine people, then there would be less chance of them having to
give up their chosen career due to incapacity.
> What a disappointment you must be to the spiritual community.
Golly, am I ? Gee that is so sad. When I need other people's
"approval" I will let you know. Until that time you are welcome to
help all the bludgers that you can muster up. Maybe then we will be
spared your condescending personal remarks. :-)
Regards, John.
