Hi Mike,
You wrote to me:

MB>I assume "screened" is British for "shielded?"
It's the English equivalent of the American "Shielded".
btw, there is no such language as "British", there are two legally
useable languages in Great Britain (which is England, Scotland and
Wales): "English" in all af Great Britain and "Welsh" in Wales. Gaelic
is also making a comeback in Scotland but it currently has no legal
standing I'm aware of.

5"

unshielded.
The catalogues I referenced all specifically listed it as screened
or shielded (depending on entry ) cable meeting Category 4 or 5
specifications. They have an overall aluminised polyester screen (or
shield ).
They also list IBM data Cables Type 1, 6 and 9 (all double screened
twisted pairs) and IBM Media Cable Type 3 (UTP)

The catalogues I refer to generally list twisted pair data cables as
either meeting "Category x" (some Category 4, but mainly Category 5) or
specify particular manufacturers specs (usually the IBM "Types").
We don't see the telephone standard "Category" cables over here
as the telephone cabling is to BT specifications.
BT is British Telecom, the privatised telephone company who used to be
the state owned monopoly company.
