Because maybe, to some degree(denial, perhaps) they DON'T "know" it --
because many people prefer to judge favorably, especially their loved
ones and/or others they know. . .
For instance, if a family member is accused of something heinous by the
police, most family members would deny his/her likelihood of
involvement, and suggest the police seek another suspect. . .
Often people don't/CAN'T see certain things in front of their faces --
kind of how the proverbial head-in-the-hole ostrich can't see crap
going on around him either!
