The most used tubes for Marshalls is the EL34 (aka 6CA7) tube. A pair
will do 50w or so. They switched to 5881's (aka 6L6) when the EL34's
became harder to get. They're back to EL34's now.
The EL84 is the tube used in the Peavey Classic 20, Fender Pro Junior,
and (four) in the Vox AC30. It's a VERY sweet sounding tube when
pushed. It's good for roughly 15w in pairs.
I believe I'm going to build something with one EL84 soon. Waiting for
the schem. It will positively scream at low levels.
