subject: Re: HD ToolBox (S.O.S.)

Had the same dilema...
SysInfo was able to read the drives
..'bugged' me for hours.
SCSI_DEVICE_NAME= scsi.device
then HDtool box will read the drives.
Dear Ron, Thank you for the information, but when I tried what you
suggested I still receive the same statement:
"Driver Not Installed".
I checked with a local user that I am good friends with and he thinks
that it is possible that my GVP controller is not compatable with the
old commodore HD ToolBox. He was running the same A500 which I have
but with the 20 Meg old A590. Don't know if the (A590) is the correct
nomenclature for the drive or controller. I did manage after much
frustration to run snoop-dos and found out that HD Tool-Box was
searching for the following:
"xt.device"
This showed up as a "Fail" in snoop-dos.
I believe that (xt.device) is the actual name for the surfaced mounted
Rom Chip on the old comodore controllers because (gvpscsi.device) is the
name of my Rom Chip on my GVP A500-HD+ controller card. Now since the
(xt.device) failed in snoop-dos it changed directory to the Icon and
then I received a Fail on (gvpscsi.device) which leads me to believe
that naturaly it won't recongnize the gvp device after not finding the
xt.device. I think this stands for external device abbreviated.
I might be wrong on this whole matter, but It seems to be the closest
logical explaination I can come up with. Please provide any further
insight if you can.
Thank you very much.
