Unfortunately you run into dunderheads like that no matter where you go.
Then of course, there's the politics. At one job I worked myself into
manager of the proto-type machine shop. Since I didn't dance to the same
tune that my boss did, I made different 'important' contacts with people
in management. But, that didn't save my job when the chips were down. From
there I learned not to delve in office politics and just did my job.
