Further to this, I would like to join the Klutz Klub or Clutz Club, or
whatever:
I raised 5 kids and every summer brought forth a huge garden and much
canning and freezing.
The entire family really liked green beans that were "frenched" and each
year saw my five kids seated around the kitchen table with their
exacto-knives "frenching" the beans.
They also sliced and diced carrots, beets and whatever else we grew!
There was never a cut or a scratch or the slightes "nick" on the five of
them.
One summer, I had attended the Pacific National Exhibition ("P.N.E.") in
Vancouver and I had observed the man demonstrating the handy dandy
slicer-dicer thingy where he does up all the veggies in lickety-split
time and it can all be yours for only $9.95!!!
I bought one and proceeded to take it home so that we could speed up the
process a little.
As always, before letting any of the kids handle a sharp instrument, I
proceeded to demonstrate how to use the thing.
Needless to say, while showing them how to be "very very careful" while
slicing a carrot, there was suddenly a great deal of red fluid appearing
'midst the carrot slices. I had sliced the end off of my right index
finger!!
It was sewn back on, but didn't "take" and although it did heal, it is
still numb and there is quite a callous on the end of my finger.
I have done a few "klutzy" things over the years..especially while
demonstrating something to my kids (usually a safety thing which prompts
my kids to say that I am the # 1 demonstrator on how NOT to do
something".)
Let me know if I qualify for membership and what the name of the club
is.
Cheers. Marj
P.S. Re the tagline below: I know all about this, too!!!
