| subject: | Elite 2864, 56K upgradeable? |
I just recently received a promotional brochure from Zyxel, listing the latest stuff they have in their product line, Omni.net, OmniTA 128, Prestige and the Elite. Well, I have the Elite 2864, but upon close examination of the ad, it said that this modem is 56k upgradeable. And the Elite 2864I is also 56K Upgradeable too. I thought the 56K upgrade thing was ISDN, but when I saw the Elite 2864I (ISDN version) having the 56K upgradeable logo stamped on to it, it to me just doesn't make sense since I believe the I can go up to 128k, why list the I as being 56K upgradeable UNLESS Zyxel intend to do what USR and AT&T plans to do; introduce a 56K PSTN modem using existing technology. USR x2 56K technology can be adapted for their Courier and Sportster V.34 line, AT&T V.Flex is a similar technology. Does that mean, the Elite 2864 is capable of doing 56K like the USR X2 or V.Flex? If so, that's great news! --- Maximus/2 3.01 Hello David! Answering a msg of , from David Poon to All: they are adding the x2 technology to the elite modems....
