Berger turns to management - in two senses

(03-Sep-98) - Apparently not content merely to manage BMW Motorsport's
return to Formula 1 in the year 2000, former Grand Prix star Gerhard Berger
has expressed interest in driver management as well.

The Austrian winner of 10 Grands Prix in a career stretching between 1984
and 1997 is said to be keen to take on the Sauber test driver Jorg Muller.
This would represent a career boost for the German, who has so far been
test driver for two teams but failed to race. The increased prestige a
manager like Berger would afford in the Formula 1 paddock might help Muller
make the final step to an F1 race seat. Muller was 1996 F3000 champion, and
in addition to his Sauber testing duties, races for Porsche in the FIA GT
championship.

Berger would be following in the footsteps of 1982 World Champion Keke
Rosberg who followed a successful Grand Prix career with the management of
current championship leader Mika Hakkinen.
