Have you ever had the one where you ponder all the bad things that could (and 
will) happen if you took that drink?  And then after looking at all the pain 
a drink will cause, you go ahead and drink anyway?
I woke up screaming from that one.
It was probably 10 years ago, but I remember it loke yesterday.
In the gream, I thought about my job and realized that I would probably lose 
that.  No big deal.
I thought about my family and wondered where I would be living.  Certainly 
not with them.
And I thought about my many friends in the fellowship and realized that 
wasn't a problem.  I wouldn't come back.  I'd go back to my old drinking 
buddies.  You know, the rent-a-friends in the bars.
And after all that thinking, I still took the drink.
It scared me.  And it bothered me for a long time.  After all the reasoning I 
did and knowing exactly what lay ahead, I still took the drink.
After talk to my sponsor and thinking about it for many months. I realized 
why I drank.
I didn't think of me and I didn't think of the value I put on my sobriety.
