subject: No 3D racing games?

You know, something's been bugging me ("as always...") - you'd think that
of all the formats 3D Realms would explore, they would try a racing game.
And no, Death Rally doesn't count (not that 3DR made it as it is)! :-)
If I had a say (and given time, I plan on it), I would make a Death Rally
3D, which would probably share some similarities to a game like Interstate
'76 (do you people play that?), and Accolade's upcoming Redline. But it
would have a grittier edge, with huge, booming weapons (such as REAL
chainguns), mud everywhere, and a myriad of ways to damage your opponents.
I think there would only be one problem with this: getting it off the
ground. Certainly, you folks are tied up with DNF and Prey. But what about
getting some fresh talent? I'm still in high school (almost out), but the
Impact design team is worth looking into; if you've ever played Quake Rally,
you know what they can do. And this isn't even considering the upcoming
Ultimate Rally or a Quake II-enhanced version (which I know they want to work
on)! If they know enough about Quake code to change the very physics and
control of a game to their specifications, they can certainly work with DLLs,
which are more customizable.
Thanks for listening to me (even if you shoot me down).
PS How accurate is "King of the Hill" compared to genuine Texans? Do you
guys watch the show diligently? Oh, and what's up with that Texan obsession
with paintball?
