Irvine promises clean fight

(29-Oct-98) - Eddie Irvine has promised to keep the title-fight between
Michael Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen clean -- although he has warned his
McLaren rival to take care if they are battling.

Irvine, who needs to finish second behind Schumacher to prevent Hakkinen
taking the title, believes the fight for the crown will not be resolved in
a dirty fashion.

"If Mika is trying to overtake me, he has to be careful more than if
he is overtaking somebody else because I have nothing to lose," he
said. "So, I can afford to take a bit more of a chance.

"It's the same for Michael with David Coulthard. The guy who is
fighting for the championship has a bit more to lose than the guy who is
not fighting for the championship.

"But I wouldn't want to take Mika off -- or anybody else for that
matter -- so that Michael could win the championship because I wouldn't
want somebody to do it to me. That's how you have to judge it."
