The virus you are referring to is commonly called the concept or macro
virus. It is a macro built into an MS Word Document and changes the
save command to force documents being "saved as" to go to a template
format and be saved in the template directory.
On a Novell network this can really be a headache. It invaded my system
about a year ago and I did things such as re-load the users Word,
re-load the users entire Windows configuration, re-load MS Office to the
server, nothing worked.
The virus invades the normal.dot template and any document that uses
that template so even if you restore the normal.dot template, as soon as
you open an infected document you are hit again.
In a 21 day stretch, 171 documents were hit with the virus.
Microsoft has a patch that itself is a macro and its loaded into Word
and also checks your files for the Concept virus. When this macro is
loaded, it stops you and warns you that the document you are loading
has a macro attached.
So, yes, you can get it through the internet, or anywhere where you
could download a .doc file.
