gamma Virginis is edging into twilight, to leave us by early
September. As yet, no one reported its fracture back into two stars;
it is still in all instruments a single consolidated dot. Ts ephemeris
is given under August 1st.
Mars moves into easier viewing in August. He is already a good and
bright reddish star in Aries. With brighter stars around him than in
2003, you can more comfortably trace his retrograde loop. Check out
the timetable for Mars under August 1st.
For a personal briefing about Mars, be sure to come to the NYSkies
Astronomy Seminar on August 7th, Thursday, 7PM. You'll learn how,
when, where to follow Mars in the City's sky with just the bare eye
and binoculars.
Moon slides past Venus on August 7th; Jupiter, August 9th. From
the 20th thru early September, Venus skips past Jupiter, with
conjunction with him on September 1st. So in the evening sky there's
plenty of action to watch.

Richard Rosenberg at Amateur Astronomers Association soaked up
more umbrage in July. This time it's Bruce Kamiat, past Observing
Group chair, who twists Richy's tail in a July 13th letter to NYSkies:

John,
It's nice that you and Stew and Gene and Claybrain have gone off to
form your own group free of the oppression of all us
Communist/anarchist/terrorist egghead nasty sorts. I hope you are
very happy together. Enjoy. I think that's a much more constructive
solution than all the AAA infighting.
I have avoided NYSkies because I just don't have time to get into
extended fights with Claybrain over macro politics, and I don't have
time to deal with your Pazmini political shtick either. I have no
intention of attending these meetings of yours, where I can hobnob
with lunatic idiot psychos like Gene and Claybrain, and I would
appreciate not being spammed about them. Thanks.
Good luck with your group.
Bruce

Rosenberg must be thoroly insulted at being implicated as
'communist/anarchist/terrorist'!! And being rolled up in 'all the AAA
infighting'!!! Can Richy let this flouting of his might and power go
unpunished?
Springing from his eviction-threat at John Pazmino, and the
possible new one against Kamiat?, Rosenberg apparently has eyes on the
club's Recent Astronomy Seminar. At the July 14th session, according
to a couple attendees, he tried to monopolize the discussion, shooing
off any one who wanted to add to the dialog.
Are the witnesses honest and truthful? A reputable journalist
within the club should tail Rosenberg and publish correct complete
competent accounts of his behavior. Is there any one to step forward
for this club-critical mission?
Kamiat isn't sitting still. He's selling genuine photographs of
himself in sexist/militarist situations!
PAZMINO! YOU'RE SPOUTING YOUR PSYCHOTUC FANTASIES AGAIN!! IT'S
CLAYBRAINS LIKE YOU WHO DAMAGE THE AAA WITH YOUR DELUSIONS!!!
Go here: 'photos.halloween-nyc.com/gallery/288338',
There's Bruce, wrapped with his girl friend. There's an other one;
the girl is itching to get a ration out of Bruce. If you visit the
site -- and buy the photos! -- you can guess what liquid asset Bruce
can ration out to the girl. These (and three other poses) can be YOURS
to show to potential AAA members at Carl Schurz Park:
'Bruce is a club leader at AAA. He calls me a [put geological
expletive here]-brain as part of his club duties. He was rewarded with
a new 3-year seat on AAA's Board of Directors! Come join AAA. You,
too, can receive Bruce's concerns.'
July is a BUSY month for Richy. Some one, some how, put the wrong
date for his Observing Group meeting in the August club newsletter! It
was corrected in crude handwriting. Accident? Accidently on purpose?
Sabotage? More tail-twisting? (There was more editorial interdiction
in this issue, but one's enough for NYC Events.)
NYSkies
-----
Astronomers are exploiting NYSkies as a quick, handy, friendly, and
potent source of astronomy news relating to the City. And there is
LOTS of astronomy stuff going on around New York! Since it revived on
28 September 2001 (it was interrupted by World Trade Center) NYSkies
became the definitive forum and public record for matters bearing on
home astronomy in and around New York.
Joining NYSkies is easy. Send an empty email to this Yahoogroup
