Hi, thanks for the idea. We did do a hike in Shenandoah last August on the
Skyline Drive. This weekend we are at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. We are
staying at the K.O.A. just outside the National Park. We try to hit at least
one area meeting on the weekends we travel and invite those in the area to
join us for our campfire meetings. It's quite a spiritual event sitting
around a campfire and sharing with the same people you connected with on the
"search for serenity" in the woods that day.
The further the distance we travel from Delaware, the smaller the number seem
to get time off together. This weekend we are expecting maybe 25 campers from
our area. The normal for an area day trip hike runs from 35 to 40.
You said that you did live in the are. Where are you located now? If we get
in your area I'll let you know so maybe you can join us!
If you are interested let me know. Otherwise it's great to meet another
fellow!
I've said many times in newcomer meetings (not to imply your status), that I
feel stronger in my recovery every time I meet a new "member" of the club. My
strength comes from the fellowship and the more the stronger.
I just got back from the Buffalo area yesterday and attended some meetings up
there. I get up there pretty often for work and have connected with some
great people in that area too.
I really think it's true when Bill W. wrote that we are the privilaged few.
Who else can travel anywhere in the country and find friends (not
acquaintances) by calling a local number listed in the book! I've never been
shunned or left wanting when I called a local intergroup!
Thanks for the mail and God bless you with peaces and serenity!
Mike
