As our software requires data in the zone field, what is the advantage of all
having the same number - or should I ask what is the disadvantage of having
differing zone numbers? With different zone numbers we get an idea of where in
the world the writer is.

Making all the same zone number would still leave us with differing region and
net numbers, we could fight about that I suppose in lieu of inter zonal
fighting.
