Schuey could gift win to Irvine (21-Oct-98) - Michael Schumacher might hand Eddie Irvine his first F1 win at this year's Japanese Grand Prix. The German said that if he is in a position to win the World Championship and not have to worry about Mika Hakkinen, he could hand victory to his team-mate. "Why not?" Schumacher said in an interview with AUTOSPORT. "If we have the situation that Hakkinen is no longer in the race, a second place would be enough to get the title. If Eddie was behind me, I would have absolutely no problem to swap positions. He has endured a lot and has done tremendous work for me." Irvine does a large proportion of Ferrari's test work. Schumacher trusts the Irishman's opinions on the set-up of the car because they have very similar tastes. --- Msged/386 4.20 beta 4* Origin: Blizzard of Ozz, Melbourne, Australia (3:635/728.4{at}fidonet) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 633/267 |
