Threading wouldn't have necessarily helped with this issue.  I tend to move on
with the discussion fairly quickly, and even with the thread available, a back
reference to "someone said something" often doesn't work with me, it's already
"ancient history".  It's the same for me on more modern media.  Only difference
is I have the older messages in the thread to look at (no guarantees I'd find
what you're referring to or get the reference!). :)
