Richards linked with Stewart

(21-Oct-98) - David Richards has been linked to a management role at
Stewart Grand Prix.

The former Benetton boss, who in a shock move quit the team yesterday, has
been linked to the Stewart team with the possibility of becoming a
shareholder, with rumours that Jackie Stewart could sell the team.

The team is not living up to engine partner Ford's expectations, and as a
result Ford vice-president of special vehicle technology, Neil Ressler, has
just been appointed a non-executive director to strengthen the management
of the team.

Rumours also link Richards to Arrows which is said to be facing a budget
shortfall for '98. However, he would need backing to buy into the team.
This could possibly come from Ford. A mystery Belgian group is also said to
be interested. Whether this is linked with Richards is unknown.

Jordan admits it is on the look-out for a heavy-hitting partner. That could
be either an engine manufacturer or a company with huge financial clout, to
secure its long-term investment. The team has had exploratory discussions
with Ford, which is looking around for a future partner, but could also
extend its customer contract with Mugen Honda, which runs out at the end of
next year.
