Ferrari fired up

(21-Oct-98) - Ferrari continued its exhaustive testing program yesterday
with Michael Schumacher running at Mugello and test driver Luca Badoer at
Fiorano.

Also present at Mugello was the Ferrari-powered Sauber of Jean Alesi. Eddie
Irvine was not present, however, recent rumours that his back problems
could force his replacement at the final round of the season in Suzuka have
been quashed after the team said Irvine is fit to race.

Rumours had suggested that either Badoer, who has been given extra testing
duties, or even Sauber's Jean Alesi, would take the Ulsterman's seat for
the race.

How Irvine's back problems will affect his performance at a race where he
could play a crucial role in the championship battle, remains to be seen.
