For which I.P. Knightly attempted, unsucessfully, to sue him, claiming it
was a cheap rip-off of his "Dash to the Loo" novel.

I.P. died a bitter, homeless and destitute man, since he was so traumatized
by the episode that he could no longer write anything more, suffering from
an acute "blockage" as it were... The "Bedpan Humor"
novel he was working on prior to Willie's release remained neglected for
decades, and was still only half finished at the time of his death.

Willie Makit OTOH, became exceedingly rich, as his "1000 Yards"
novel became a top seller, and he was subsequently handed a rich contract
for ten more books, all of which also did very well. Included in that group
were such classics as "Cliff Hanger", "Lost in the
Sahara", and "Backstroking the Bay".
