RD> I'm interested in taking my BBS telnet. Could somone who's done this let
RD> me know what's involved? I'm especially un-knowledgable about the kind
of
RD> provider I'd need, and how much that will cost.
First thing that you will need is a static IP address. So using an AOL, or
CIS or MSN is not going to work.
Second you will need a virtual modem driver. It looks like you are using the
DOS version of Maximus. You have three choices, run the BBS under Windows 95,
run the BBS under OS/2 or Run the BBS under Windows NT (preferred ). There
might be some way to do this under DOS, but I am not aware of it.
From there it's pretty easy. Install the Virtual Modem and point Max at it,
and then have at it. After doing this myself I've found a few "bugs" in the
supplied mex scripts. I am sure that you too will find some interesting
problems as you sort through the mess. I am no expert at it, but I'd be happy
to assist in any way. I can at least point you to all the Windows NT Virtual
Modem Drivers
