New engine makes good start for Jordan

(20-Oct-98) - The new engine that Jordan hopes will help it win third place
in the Constructors' Championship had a promising first run this week.

Damon Hill was second fastest in a test at Silverstone. The 38-year-old's
best time was 0.61s slower than the quickest of the day, set by David
Coulthard in the McLaren.

Mugen is building a new-spec engine for its home Japanese race in the hope
of a good showing. It is believed to have uprated V10s for both qualifying
and race.

Jordan lies four points behind Williams and two points behind Benetton in
the battle for third.
