Subject: Re: Calgary International/B. Spinnenweber
You may request hand inspection, but you may be sent to the end of the
line if the inspectors feel they are too busy at the moment. Not good if
you are tight on the departure time. In the end they have all the power.
I asked for hand inspection last year...and they did it at the metal
detection site (the one everybody goes thru) Then, just before boarding.
.
they asked me if I'd mind (honest) a "random" inspection...like Sure I'd
say
No. sigh And they opened every single cannister of a box of 20 films th
at
were still in their packages which was also in it's original carton.
There was a sad story by a shooter in another forum. He had done a bunch
of sports in Germany for a US magazine - all shot on ISO800. He asked
the inspectors to hand inspect and instead they laughed at him and
passed the film repeatedly through the machine. When he protested, they
said +ACI-Sue us+ACI-, knowing that it was unlikely since international l
aw
suits are difficult enough between corporations and almost impossible
between individuals. Nothing he could do, but explain to the editor and
hope that his fee would be covered.
I think that would cause a demand for the fee before one even takes the j
ob.
I'm curious...what happens to film if you shoot it there (Canada, or
wherever) and then Mail it back to the U.S. for developing?
