Hi CARROLL (of 2:252/171),

PMFJI.. Looking at one particular Quantaray model on the 'net, reminded me
of the simple BRAUN 340 SCA VariZoom that I bought for my Canon AE1P many
years ago. It does all the tilt and swivel too, with zoom from wide f28,
normal f45, to tele f100 and has a modest red-eye "plastic"
reflector. Wonderful unit. It could do wonderful fill-flash results from
30ft away from subject if room has a white ceiling. The Braun is bit of a
squeeler though and chirps every 3 seconds in standby (silence would be
prefered!). Takes 4 AA's which seem to last quite a bit. I appreciate
the benefit of having a fill-flash while needing to do mostly bounce-flash
shots; that would probably be my next consideration in a flash unit.

If I can dig up some old photographs taken with the flash and bounce, I'll
make them available.

...August
