>>> Part 1 of 2...
-=> Quoting Jerry Hensley to Clarence Hogan <=-
CH> De 16:6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose
> to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover
> at evening, at the setting of the sun, at the time of thy
> departure from Egypt.
JH> Again, this to mean the twain of the evenings, or 3 pm.
Brother Jerry, please forgive an old man for a completely stupid
oversight, and would offer several excuses, but it is my belief
that excuses shall not be accepted in the day of judgment, so
should they not be required to be accepted now and therefore
will offer none, although they are perfectly logical for anyone
to make even if they were stupid, which only means that we are
indeed ALL human! :)
You and The Scriptures are most certainly correct on the between
evenings!
Now that that kicking up of the dust has settled, all the parts
pertaining to the Passover need not be answered, HOWEVER, the
rest will require more talk! ;)
CH> At the setting of the sun cannot possibly be made any plainer!
JH> This is to translated, "as the sun begins to set, or go down," or "the
JH> going down of the sun." When the sun reaches its highest apex (noon),
JH> it immediately starts its trek "down." Therefore, the going "down" of
JH> the sun begins at 12:01 pm. Clarence. I want to to consider an event
JH> in the time of Nehemiah. I will post the scripture.
No way has anyone alive seen the sun set behind a hill at its
highest apex (noon)! :) But continue on! :)
JH> "And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be
JH> dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be
JH> shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the
JH> sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there
JH> should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day." (Neh.
JH> 13:19.)
Excellent quote my brother! :)
JH> Nehemiah was angered by the presence of merchants who were allowed to
JH> enter the city on the sabbath to sell their wares. He warned the men
JH> of Judah that they are profaning the sabbath by this evil. Therefore,
JH> he commanded that the gates to the city be locked at a certain time.
JH> This time was determined by the "shadow" as it would appear on the
JH> gates. This would specifically be the eastern gate as the sun
JH> ascended out of the east, moving to its Apex and descent toward the
JH> west. If a gate facing east reflects the sun as it rises from the
JH> east, a shadow would be cast upon it as the sun passes its apex by the
JH> slightest degree. Therefore, after 12:01 p.m. (just past noon) would
JH> certainly have brought this shadow. It was at this time that Nehemiah
JH> commanded that the gates be locked and not opened again until after
JH> the sabbath.
And just where do you find the word "shadow" and will make it
even easier on you "shadows" anywhere in the Book of Nehemiah?
And Jerusalem could in no way begin to be dark at the sixth hour
of the day, right?
CH> Mr 15:25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
JH> Yes, He was nailed to the cross at 9 a.m. This was the same time that
JH> the lamb was tethered to the alter within the temple.
Now brother Jerry, ya' sure dun got the old man with the lamb
being tethered to the altar at third hour of the day, and you
will just have to point this one out to these tired old eyes!
Book, Chapter and Verse will do nicely, please! :)
CH> And here we see that the third hour was between 6am to 9am
> which coincides with all other Scriptures!
JH> It was precisely at 9 a.m. To say that it was between 6-9 a.m. would
JH> allow 3 hours of play. The third hour was the third hour, and not a
JH> time span. Right? Right.
Heaven's no, for the third hour started at exactly one second
after the third hour and "an hour" runs exactly 60 minutes or
3,600 seconds and it was indeed between the third hour and the
ninth hour, but it was STILL a span of time of 60 minutes or
3,600 seconds and could have been any time during that period or
span of time, correct? As for saying that the third hour was
between 6am to 9am, this is only a figure of speech of the
Hebrew reckoning of time which was divided into three hour
increments in any 12 hour period of night or day, were they not?
CH> Mr 15:33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness
> over the whole land until the ninth hour.
JH> The sixth hour was noon. This was the sixth hour of "daylight," and
JH> not the sixth hour of the literal "day," which begins at noon itself.
JH> This is not unusual, for the day is divided into four parts, Evening
JH> and Morning, and Day and Night. 12:00 (daytime) is noon. 12:01 p.m.
JH> to 11:59.59 p.m. is the evening. 12:00 (at night) is midnight. 12:01
JH> a.m. to 11:59.59 is morning. Day, in this context, is the "light"
JH> part or daytime hours. Night, is the "dark" or night time hours.
JH> Since the mean time for daylight, is 6 a.m., and 6 a.m. is 0-hour, the
JH> 3rd hour would be 9 a.m., the 6th hour would be 12:00 noon, while the
JH> 9th hour would be 3 p.m., etc. Yahshua gave up the Ghost at 3 p.m.
The sixth hour can be midnight or twelve noon in Hebrew, which is
clearly proved by Joh 19:14, was it not? The time which you are
using is man's doctrine of the reckoning of time, correct? And
even in man's reckoning of time, one second after 12 noon is
referred to as the "afternoon" period of the day and "quitting"
time is normally at 5pm and evening begins at 6pm, correct? As
