That is *not* necessarily all they have to do.
For *one* of several examples, your news:// link is totally useless in Outlook
2007. Outlook does not support newsgroups without additional programs such as
the MAPILabNNTP module.
Another problem, JamNNTP sourced newsgroups do not render properly in
Thunderbird 60.5.3 for example. The From/To fields are corrupted and there is
no clear indication what the names are.
Your "service" would be better served if you kept up to date with issues like
that and steer your potential users for a solution that works.
