And for anyone not running Windows PCs on their network, probably quite
useless. They would be better served by NFS (which I last used under
FreeBSD about 6 years ago, but had no real hassles with, from memory), or
perhaps another networked filesystem.
I think SWAT or Webmin go some way to aiding Samba configuration, although
I don't use either personally, and never really had much trouble setting up
Samba myself.
Unfortunately Bob's message was completely devoid of any specific problems
he has with Samba so it's pretty hard to give a decent answer. A quick
search on Google would've provided some example configuration files though,
if that's what he's after.
Blaming Samba's problems on Linux is a bit of a stretch!
