I already have those adapters and a USB external drive case as well. I
have been considering something similar to what you've suggested as part of
my plans on making this happen.
I run a dual boot win2k/win98 setup now on a couple of machines. I don't
have any problems. I keep everything FAT32 and sometimes boot win98 to do
certain drive/partition copy/mirror operations and other similar things.
