 Not so much anymore.  The game is much more fun without them :)
 I like a challenge.
 But in this case I was showing a friend how it worked and hit the
 "J" key as a reflex from DN3D... and it worked! 
 So is "J" supposed to be an active key in Shadow Warrior also?
 Doesn't seem to be on the control key list....
