NP> I thought Parthenon was the ratio of Phi. Cant remember the NP> formula though...... >> 3.14159 (or something like that).... JT> That was the pyramids wasn't it? DD> I don't recall, it was a little before my time. JT> And as I understand it, it wasn't because they knew Pi to x JT> demical places, it was because they just happened to use a JT> wheel to measure the size of the blocks and such. DD> Maybe Bob would know, he's about that old... Well... you're talking about Pi not phi (which is just a Greek letter meaning an angle not a constant), and next it wouldn't matter how they measured blocks of stone, it would not include 3.14 etc unless they used the radius somehow. How? Are you saying they measured they height of the block against the diameter of the wheel, and then rolled it along to get the length? How did they decide how many to stack up and how long at the base? Both of those would change the shape, no matter what shape the individual blocks were . If there were 100 in the first layer and then 98, how does Pi get into that? And in any case, the pyramids were faced in marble before fucking Napoleon pinched it. I have no idea how they built the pyramids or why, but then, why did they build a new Parliament House, or an Opera House that is useless for opera?
