subject: UPS (uninterruptible power supplies)..

Hi All,

Does anyone here use any of the UPSs in the Belkin line-up?

Particularly, I'm wondering if anyone is happy with the Universal UPS
1000VA (F6C100) or 1200VA (F6C120) models?

For the price, they seem to provide excellent 75 or 100 minute backup times
compared to comparably-priced APC models that only provide less than 10
minutes.

I have have acquired three APC Back-UPS 450 units over the years. One is
still in service on my WinME machine. I get about 3 to 4 minutes runtime
from the 5 year old battery.

I've put a new Back-UPS 500 ES on my WinXP machine - but I don't get
nearly the runtime they claim for the configuration. They claim that a
desktop unit with a 17" monitor should run for 8 to 11 minutes. On a
recent power outage, the 1-minute shut-off warning kicked in after only 4
minutes of runtime.

This is why the Belkin line is starting look appealing.

...August
