Can you monitor cpu usage while going each way?

I was going to suggest that it may be NTFS being slower at writing but I'm
not convinced that's the issue. There are so many possibilities including a
>2gig issue with FAT32 (doesn't FAT32 cheat to get past certain
limitations?)
