| subject: | Locking Windows |
BL> The batch file must call its own window, and then when you call BL> the LOCK function, it's a different app. JB> I had the impression it worked on the command-line... no? I meant the actual function that calls Int21 440D. If you use the MSDOS command line function, it LOCKS the drive but as soon as you try to do anything by calling a *different* function, it doesn't work (and you leave the locked drive in limbo, relying on Windows to UNLOCK). The only way you can make it work is to call a *single* function which includes the LOCK int21 call, then what you want to do with the drive, then UNLOCK using the corresponding int21 call. If you try to do it with three separate functions (using the command line, a batch file or whatever), Windows sees the drive in limbo and unlocks it for you before you can do anything. Maybe it makes sense to Microsoft, but it sure sounds like crap to me. JB>> If the modem connects to the PC via ethernet you need two JB>> ethernet adaptors on the linux machine. BL> That's my other problem. The old 486 is *too* old. JB> ISA ethenet cards are cheap, but yeah, can be hard to find. (I JB> can spare a couple if you want) Thanks for that, but John gave me a couple already...
