Chris: NEFs are the file output you get when you shoot in the raw mode on
the D100. I like the raw mode because of the fexibility it offers. It
sharpens better than JPEGs because it isn't compressed like JPEGs. If you
over sharpen a JPEG it becomes very pixilated. NEFs are also sharper than
JPEGs and you can enlarge them farther (or crop them harder). The downside
to NEFs are the file size. They are much larger that JPEGs. Terrence
