| subject: | God`s Odd Requirement |
CH> Why is it that God *requires* that we worship Him endlessly forever
CH> and ever? And that if you don't, you are assumed to be damned to hell
CH> for eternity?
CH>
CH> If this requirement is really for real, wouldn't this seem to be a
CH> sign of great insecurity on His part? If God were secure in His
CH> Godhood and were really sure that if we realized He were great as God
CH> that we would surely love Him on those merits alone -- then why would
CH> He *require* endless worship from us, else we suffer the consequences?
It's not necessarily as you(and so many religious teachers have likewise done)
put it, but more like it's a natural NEED for all of us to unify ourselves by
pointing our spirits & hearts towards God, the Center of our Being -- there's
no concern on God's part about whether or not we will -- either we will come to
it on our own in this phase of our lives, or we will joyously exult
spontaneously when we move further on in our soul's continuum -- after all, as
it says, even the rocks, trees, and mountains will praise God in That Day!
It's more like a statement of fact (cause & effect) -- if we fight our natural
inclination to make God the center of all in our lives, we will have natural
consequences (like how if you fight the reality of Gravity by jumping off a
cliff, you'll have certain dire consequences(it's not a
"punishment" when you
crash into the rocks below -- it's a CONSEQUENCE!)
A lot of the passages popularly interpreted as threats by God are in a like
way, simply statements of facts (ie. "if you disobey My Laws you will put
yourself into a Hell of your own creating" (or, to use a more common proverb as
a paraphrase, "you make your bed & then you'll lie in it!")
Would God REALLY have created all of us just to condemn, torture, and
extinguish us ultimately?
Not the God I know!
Not the God Who created everything for His own pleasure!
Your friend,
