subject: Dive season

Greetings from the North Atlantic to all WWW!
Today was my first dive of the season off of the coast of Maine. Bright
sunshine and an air temp of 31 degrees.
My wife had given me one of those chemical heat packs and I thought I'd try
it out. She also describes my mental state as being "one fry short of a happy
meal."
I arrived at Nubble light at York, ME and found three other fools suiting up
for a mornings entertainment. Dry suits and twin 80's for them 7mm and a 100
for me. Water temp was a chilly 35 degrees. A month earlier it was 40 degrees

warmer when I was in the Bahamas (anybody know of work down there for a 48
year old ?).
At any rate the heat pack worked fine and my body stayed reletively
comfortable...just my hands froze. Next week a pair of dry gloves I think.
Forty five minutes was about all the digits could take. Then off to a hot
tub and a toddy. Better make that 2 toddys.
... So much ocean..so little time!
