I don't completely agree. I find users get confused as to where they are, or
as to what area is for what topic. I use the .SQR files more like a
"You are here" sign. A little blurb about the area, and perhaps topicality.
Here's an example from my system:

They see it when they enter the area, and then it disappears until they leave
and re-enter the area. I've had no complaints about them, probably because
the SQRs load as fast as the menu does. I think they're helpful for the
users when used like this. (I get these descriptions right from the EList
files. Some I edit down, some I don't have to, but I keep them fairly
short.)
