No new rubber until '99

(29-Sep-98) - Formula 1 teams are unlikely to be able to test their new
tyres until next season meaning they will have to design their cars with
almost no data on how the tyres will perform.

Bridgestone say they cannot supply tyres any earlier due to the late notice
of changes, the addition of a fourth circumferential groove, they received.

The company are also said to want a restriction on the number of tyres a
team would receive that would dramatically effect testing.

They are also understood to want to stop teams testing at two tracks
simultaneously so they can concentrate their efforts, a move that would not
go down well with Ferrari who conduct much of their testing at their own
Fiorano test circuit.
