When I got this Thinkpad back from IBM, it still had my old XP install on it, but it was flaky, lots of missing .dll error reports, I couldn't install any new software 'cause installshield wouldn't load, it was a mess. All they did was replace the system board, I dunno why Windows would come back all f-ed up. I used the on-disk IBM W2K recovery thing, then upgraded that to XP pro, which has worked fine for me before. But this time the machine was running in slow motion, it felt like a Pentium 166 with 8M RAM. It was insufferable. So I did another clean install, this time I just used an XP CD and let it reformat. The second time took. Runs like a charm. As soon as I had XP running, I immediately stuck in my SP2 CD and did the "upgrade" and that went well too. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 396/45 106/2000 633/267 |
