Hello Rod, CB>>>> The usual way a car has to "go to Regency" (named after the RG>>> Err, not always.. In a case like Pauls (faulty brakes), or RG>>> any other defect that is obviously dangerous, then you're not RG>>> even allowed to drive the car home.. It must be towed. CB>> I would have thought that to be the case.. but having never CB>> been defected for such a severe fault (or driven such a car) CB>> I couldn't be sure - hence the reason I left that out of my CB>> reply to Bill. RG> Tis often at the coppers discretion too... a real pig could force you RG> to have the car towed (or at least prevent you from driving it) with RG> nothing more than a broken tail/brake light. They generally are more RG> lenient though. It would depend a bit on your attitude to them too. One bloke, when booked for speeding, told the copper "You'ld have been a much nicer guy if your parents were married before you were born", and copped a defect notice too :) I could just imagine Rodders in his Golf, or Paul in his Sigma, arguing with a copper that their rooted brakes and missing wheel nuts pose less of a hazard than any other vehicles in good nick being driven on the road....
