Williams lose points after refuelling problem

(27-Sep-98) - Despite extending their advantage in third place in the
constructors' world championship, Williams were left slightly disappointed
after missing an opportunity for Jacques Villeneuve to finish fourth.

The reigning world champion had been running a one-stop strategy but lost
all hopes of a decent finish when not enough fuel was put in his car during
his stop. It meant he had to come into the pits again.

"It was a tough day today," he admitted. "We finally got the
car driveable before the race and decided to do a one-stop strategy, which
would have worked out okay for us, but somehow at the pit-stop we didn't
manage to put enough fuel in the car.

"That was a real pity because the extra points would have improved the
team's advantage in retaining third place in the constructors'
championship."

The team's technical director Patrick Head added: "On one side it was
a reasonable race in that we have made one point progress relative to
Benetton, but it's small stuff that we've been racing for in truth.

"It was disappointing for Jacques because we had a problem on the
refuelling rig. He was on a one-stop strategy and would have been in fourth
place had that problem not happened."
