DM> Correct. I played the new Marshall with a '52 reissue Tele, then a LP
DM> Jr reissue with P90's in it.
That was one of the Teles I liked, besides the Tex Mex. If I remember
correctly, the Broadcaster style lead PU was still being used in '52, right?
:)
DM> The "Classic" or low-gain channel was pretty good. The clean setting on
DM> that channel was actually very good for a Marshall also.
That's probably the most I'd use out of it. I tend to go for the more
bluesy sounds, like EC, SRV, Dave Gilmour, and stuff like that.
DM> The higher gain side just didn't do it for me. I don't use it much, but
DM> I can play with very high gain. I played a ProSonic 2x10 combo today
DM> with a Parker Fly and it sounded *killer*.
Occasionally, I'll do a little shred with high gain. I have an Alnico
II Pro in the bridge of my #1, so it actually sounds nice with shred
distortion.
The ProSonic is soooooooooo sweeeeeeeeet! I really want to get one.
I'd prefer the head model on top of at least one 4x12. Nothing les than 12s
for me. :)
I played an old mid '60s Dual Showman head through a Peavey Sheffield
loaded 4x12 the day before I picked up my Tele. It was really warm sounding.
I liked it. I guess you could say that it was brown sounding, like Jeff's new
Fender. :) Of course his being a butt doctor's assistant probably helps the
brownness.
DM> After playing with the ProSonic combo, I can say that I'd buy one of
DM> those before I'd pop for the new Marshall...Bear in mind that I really
DM> like Marshall amps, and I have a room *full* of them here :))
I think that one of the best sounding amps I've ever played is the
ProSonic. I tend to play somewhat dirty all the time 'cept for on my band's
two originals (at least the rhythms). Most of the time I tend to like good
thick sounds good for lead and nice crunchy rhythms (Johnny B. Goode
sounding).
I'll have to check out your page. :)
