What had started the discussion was one of the guys had a website that was
not public, yet they were getting probes for it from google. The only cause
they could find was two of their machines had the google toolbar or
searchbar or whatever it is. Then someone else jumped in saying that he had
just installed it and it was sending the requests thru google if DNS didn't
resolve, I remember this was unexpected. Then the first guy said both
machines were laptops and when connected to the net from outside his
network the dns would not resolve and he was going to put some hosts
entries to see if that stopped it.

I quit following the discussion after that but I think it was
full-disclosure mailing list.
