| subject: | Re: XP and the quick launch area |
From: "Frank Haber" OK, found that one (must have been blind), and it controls *only* what appears in the left-hand panel, and only in the XP view. I use so many utilities that that area's useless, except for sticky items like "new Redmond document." It doesn't do a thing for classic view, which has those double pulldown arrows, then a piebald highlighting that blows me away. I'm positive there used to be a patch for 2000 that reverted to the 98 style. I'll go hunting for it, one of these days. My favorite "restore 'minimum surprise' interface state" patches include o geld search back to standard, then use PDfind from an old power desk, or Ztree, when you really want to find everything. o geld sort order back to previous ASC/alpha behavior. o turn on "remember open folder arrangement at startup." (beyond the usual "remove swish/zoom/blam/wipe/fade FX.") --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 396/45 106/2000 633/267 |
