Goodyear bosses still confident (27-Sep-98) - Goodyear operations manager Perry Bell remained confident about Ferrari's chances of victory in the Japanese Grand Prix on November 1 -- despite Mika Hakkinen's win at the Nurburgring. Bell, who is well aware that rivals Bridgestone will have an advantage as they head to their home track in Suzuka, believes the five week gap before that race will help them close the gap. "We are determined to make our last race a double win -- the race and the drivers' championship -- but the constructors' title will be tough. "Even though Goodyear equipped cars took six of the top ten places today we are still looking for additional performance improvements for the Suzuka race. "We have made significant progress this year and the extended gap before the Japanese Grand Prix will enable us to provide the most competitive tyre package for the final Grand Prix." Goodyear equipped teams will be testing at Mugello, Silverstone and Fiorano this week. --- Msged/386 4.20 beta 4* Origin: Blizzard of Ozz, Melbourne, Australia (3:635/728.4{at}fidonet) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 633/267 |
