          of New year's Eve celebration.

General News
 ----------
    The half-fare program attracted crushing crowds to the City's
transit services. It started on the four-day Thanksgiving weekend,
including Black Friday. Trains and buses were filled to overflowing.
Extra service, almost equaling weekend schedules, were in effect. The
plan runs on Dec 3-4, 10-11, 17-18, and the whole period from the 24th
thru January 1st.
