After taking all the steps to get rid of a bad user that have been suggested
here there is one more step.
I run PADLOCK as a Call-back verifier. If you have a hidden user in your
caller base their phone number stays in there. Next time they call in with
another name, new to your base, they have to call back verify. When Padlock
checks the user base and finds the same phone number in there already, it
says that number is in use and cancels the verify. Their access level isn't
upgraded and they don't get anywhere. I might not have their right name but I
do have the number they called from.
I have my BBS set up so new callers have Limited access. On the main menu
they have only a message area to me, call-back verify and good-bye available
to them. Once they run Padlock their level is upgraded to Normal which gives
them full access to everything. Long distance callers have a chance to leave
me a message and I will upgrade them manually but watch their activities for
a while if I suspect foul doings.
IMPORTANT: You must make sure to set up your security in Padlock though so
they can't put in 911 or other emergency numbers, can't have your system dial
long distance or make annoying calls to innocent people at rude hours.
Padlock seemed a little hard to set up at first but once I got it running
it's worked flawless here for over a year now.
Only thing, the phone company looked at me a little strange when I went to
them and asked for a list of all the exchanges that were local calls to me.

Yes, with some people this is the best avenue to take rather than have them
try to figure out ways to beat your system.
